Sunbreak Cellars - Vineyard Pictures

The following pictures show the general layout of the space in our backyard where we laid out the planting space for the vineyard.

Before

The rock walls that outline the paths are short - only 1-2 feet in height. Erosion from the steepness of the hill washes soil down the hill each winter.

After

One the rock walls were rebuilt, the terracing is evident. Although there is still a bit of slope on the terraces, the angle has been reduced from 40˚ to something closer to 20-25˚. This picture also shows the 'grow tubes' where the young vines are actually growing.
This picture is a close-up of one of the planting rows. The black landscape fabric that will help prevent weeds from getting established is apparent.

This shows the front part of our vineyard. This was the 'extra' set of vines that we planted where there used to be a photinia hedge. Over time, the vines will grow high enough that they will form their own hedge over the course of the growing season.

Pictures of our vineyard include:

bulletScenes from the vineyard
bullet Pictures of the grapevines as they grow
bullet Comparing growth rate of cuttings versus one year-old vines
