Photograph Notes:  This is a composite photo of one of our bald eagles as it shows the sequence of flight from its perch through the first flaps of its wings as it goes aloft. In between the image of the eagle on the tree and the first picture aloft, there was a gap of approximately 10-15 seconds while it figured out if it wanted to fly or not. Once it decided to take off, the time lapse between each of the pictures once it had taken off is about 0.25 seconds. (June of 2002.)
