Photograph Notes: A few days before we arrived, Borrego
Springs had received the first rain of the year and the local plants
were just starting to respond with a show of life. The ocotillo tree
shows these brilliant red flowers and they were just starting to bloom.
As it turns out, this first rain was the precursor to a wet winter in
the desert that some say have resulted in one of the most amazing shows
of desert flowers in decades! (November of 2004.)
