Photograph Notes: The lightning strike that I captured from Black Butte
Ranch in central Oregon, as shown below, was one of several pictures that I was
able to take that evening. The lightning bolt here is fairly small and was
probably about 5-10 miles away. Lightning is fairly common in central Oregon as
there have been two
recent forest fires caused by lightning storms in the near vicinity -- one, the Cache Lake fire of
2002, received national attention. This photo is looking out over the pool
house. The title is a play on words given the lightning at the
left side of the picture together with the bright night lights from the poolhouse on
the right side. |
