Photograph Notes: In
the winter, the rocks on Pile Point are exposed to high winds that blow
in off the Straits of Juan de Fuca. In this stormy weather, the wave
action along the shore can be quite dramatic with wind-blown spray
sometimes going one hundred feet are more. In October, we were up on the
island for one of the first storms; this longish exposure (using a
neutral density filter to extend the exposure time) helped catch the
waves as they pounded the rocks. |
